The first in director Takashi Miike's (AUDITION, ICHI THE KILLER) Black Society Trilogy, the story centers around two brothers on either side of the law in the midst of a gangland war to determine control of Tokyo's seedy Shinjuku district. Kiriya is a tough, Chinese born cop whose brutal tactics for keeping the peace do not preclude a strong relationship with his elderly parents, who never really adjusted to life in Japan. He struggles to keep his brother's occupation from them: Yoshihito is a lawyer who works for Wang, leader of the Chinese Triad gang and organ trafficking profiteer.
